Explosion kills 5 Taliban members and a civilian in Taloqan city

An explosion on Thursday in the city of Taloqan, the capital of northeastern province of Takhar, killed five Taliban members and a shoemaker civilian and injured at least ten others.

An eyewitness told KabulNow that a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the district governor of Khwaja Bahauddin, Nizamuddin Nizam, exploded at around 5pm local time.

According to a source at the provincial hospital in Takhar, six people have been confirmed dead and 20 others injured.

The Taliban in Takhar confirmed the explosion but provided no further details.

No person or group has claimed responsibility.
