A delegation led by General Michael Erik Kurilla, the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) visited the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

According to the Pakistani Express Tribune Media, this American general met and talked with the Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir in Rawalpindi on Thursday, December 15.

It has been reported that regional stability, security situation, defence and security cooperation, in particular, military-to-military ties constituted the focus of the two sides’ dialogue.

The CENTCOM commander appreciated Pakistan’s achievements in the fight against terrorism, flood relief and contributions towards regional peace, Express Tribune added.

According to the report, the American delegation visited the Torkham border line on Thursday and learned about the mechanisms of counter-terrorism and border management in place along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

After leaving Afghanistan, the US is concerned about the influence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

At the same time, US officials emphasize that they are monitoring the situation and will not allow Afghanistan to become a safe haven for terrorist groups again.
