Armed Men Kidnap a Merchant in Balkh

Sources from Mazar-e-Sharif, center of northern Balk province report to Kabul Now that armed men kidnapped Mohammad Asghar, a coal merchant in this province.

According to the source, the armed men abducted this merchant from his house located in Khorasan area of ​​the 7th district of Mazar-e-Sharif city on Monday, December 14.

A source close to this merchant says that Mohammad Asghar is the main resident of Dara-i-Suf district in the northern Samangan province and currently lives in the 7th district of Mazar-i-Sharif city.

However, Mohammad Asghar’s family members do not comment anything about the incident but the source says that they have not received a call from the kidnappers so far.

The Taliban security officials in this province refuse to comment on this matter as of now.

Although Taliban security officials have always assured to strengthen security measures for the citizens, but criminal cases including kidnapping continue to grow in the country. Abduction is one of the most serious challenges in the country.

These officials also add that after the return of the Taliban to power, at least 11 people in Balkh have been freed from the kidnappers.
