UNHCR Builds 1000 Earthquake-Resilient Houses in Paktika

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says that it has built 1,000 houses for more than 8,000 people who have been hit by recent earthquakes in the Barmal district of the eastern Paktika province. These homes will be handed over to the local residents in need of housing soon.

This office tweeted today, Thursday, November 3rd, that these houses are earthquake-resistant.

UNHCR adds that these homes will be distributed to the people who have been hit hard during previous earthquakes.

A few months ago, a deadly earthquake hit Gayan and Barmal districts in Paktika, taking the lives of nearly a thousand people.

In recent months, several earthquakes have shaken this region.
