Khar Emphasizes Sustained International Engagement with the Taliban Government

The Iranian president’s special envoy on Afghanistan affairs, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar on Thursday, November 10 and emphasized the sustained engagement of the international community with the current Taliban government.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, and stable Afghanistan, Hina Rabbani Khar pointed to the deep root fraternal ties that form the strong bond of solidarity between the two neighboring countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said in a statement today.

Stating the challenges that Afghanistan is going through, Hina Rabbani Khar has once again emphasized the importance of the international community’s sustainable engagement with the Taliban government. In this regard, Khar stressed the critical role of Pakistan and Iran, the two friends and neighboring countries.

Apart from the internal issues of Afghanistan, a matter that belongs to the people of this country, two international and regional strategies are competing for the future of Afghanistan: a stabilizing strategy and a destabilizing strategy. Iran follows a strategy in Afghanistan to create stability. The special envoy states that he would follow the same on his trip to Moscow in the coming week.” Seyeed Rasoul Mousavi, the assistant to Iran’s minister of foreign affairs, tweeted today.
