EU Shares Concern Over Situation in Afghanistan

Josep Borrell, high representative of the European Union (EU) for foreign affairs and security policy, has shared concern over situation in Afghanistan in a meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president of Uzbekistan.

Via a tweet today November 19, Burrell wrote that the two parties discussed the bilateral EU and Uzbekistan relations and the situation along Uzbekistan and Afghanistan border.

Joseph Borrel said that he shared EU’s concern over situation in Afghanistan with the President of Uzbekistan. Burrell did not elaborate on the shared concern.

Central Asian countries, on the other hand, are worried about the presence of terrorist groups in northern Afghanistan, including ISIS. Currently thousands of members of terrorist groups have gathered in the northern part of  Afghanistan, some officials of these countries say.
