30 al-Qaeda militants killed in Helmand

At least 30 al-Qaeda militants were killed in an airstrike in Marja district of the southern Helmand province, a military source said.

A statement published by the 215 Maiwand Corps on Friday, August 06, said the airstrike was launched to target a terrorist spot in Sistani area of Marja district.

According to the statement, those killed were Pakistani nationals and members of al-Qaeda network for the Indian subcontinent.

Two Land Cruiser-type vehicles of the al-Qaeda members were also destroyed as the result of airstrikes, the statement added.

Located in the southern part of the country, Helmand is an insecure province where in addition to the Taliban foreign militants including al-Qaeda are present.
