Taliban militants set fire to school in Faryab

The Taliban militants set fire to a middle school in Maimana, capital city of the northern Faryab province, a local official confirmed.

The incident took place on Tuesday, June 22, in Qutor village of Maimana, said Karim Yourish, spokesperson for Faryab police.

He described the Taliban militants as the enemies of humanity, culture, religion, and the state.

The Taliban, however, have not yet commented on the incident.

Faryab is a volatile province where has witnessed heavy Taliban attacks in recent weeks.

The militants took control of Qaisar, Kuhistan, Shirin Tagab, Khwaja Sabz Push, and Dawlat Abad districts of the province over past few days.
