62 people including 36 army soldiers freed from Taliban custody

The Afghan elite forces freed as many as 62 people including 36 army soldiers from the Taliban custody in northern Baghlan province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

A statement issued by MoD said that the Afghan elite forces conducted a rescue operation in Nawruzak village of Baghlan e Markazi district, last night on Tuesday, May 25, freeing 62 people.

Four Taliban militants were killed in the operation and some ammunition along with explosives devices were seized.

The Taliban has not made any comment in this regard so far.

This is while, on May 24, the Afghan elite forces freed 41 people including 19 army forces who were kept in Taliban custody in Pashtun Zarghun district of Herat province.
