106 Taliban fighters killed in Helmand

At least 106 Taliban militants were killed and 37 others wounded in multiple operations conducted by the Afghan security forces in Helmand province, said the Afghan Ministry of Defense, today, Tuesday, May 04.

A statement issued by the 215 Maiwand Corps said that the operations were carried out in Nahri Saraj, Nawa, Lashkargah, and Garmser districts.

22 al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and eight Taliban local commanders including Mawlawi Karamat, who was a field commander of the militant group in the suburb of Lashkargah, were among those killed, the statement read.

The Afghan security forces seized some ammunition of the insurgent group.

The Taliban has not made any immediate comment in this regard so far.

Helmand is a volatile province and the Taliban militant maintains an active presence in some districts of the province.
