A military base relocated in Herat

A military base was evacuated in Gulran district of the western Herat province and it was relocated to Kamana base in Kahsan district, said a statement issued by 207 Zafar Corps.

After an assessment by the Ministry of Defense the base was evacuated, the statement said.

The Taliban, however, claim that their fighters have captured the base.

A video clip circulating on social media shows the Taliban’s flag risen over a base.

A surge in violence has intensified in the western Herat province. Earlier this week, a Taliban planted roadside bomb killed Abdul Ghani Noori, the Kahsan district governor, along with a security official while they were on their way to Gulran district.
