14 security forces killed in northern Afghanistan

As many as nine Afghan security forces were killed when their outpost came under Taliban attack in Dasht-e-Qala district of the northern Takhar province, a local security official told media on Monday, September 21.

A local security official, on condition of anonymity, told Kabul Now that the Taliban carried out an attack on Afghan security forces on Sunday night in Nawabad village of Dasht-e-Qala district. Nine Afghan security force, including six national army soldiers and three policemen, were killed, according to the source.

On the other hand, five Afghan security forces lost their lives in Taliban attack conducted on Sunday night in Balkh district of the northern Balkh province.

Muneer Ahamd Farhad, spokesperson for Balkh governor, confirmed to Kabul Now that the Taliban militants carried out an attack on outpost of Afghan security forces in Palasposh village of Balkh district on Sunday night, September 20.

The Taliban militants have taken three Afghan security forces as hostage, according to Mr. Farhad.

The Taliban have not commented on this regard so far.

A deadly violence in Afghanistan continues despite the Afghan government and Taliban peace negotiators are discussing a peace settlement in Doha. The government has been insisting on a ceasefire while Taliban leaders have displayed little interest for a truce up till now.
