Turkmenistan will release 126 Afghan prisoners

Turkmenistan President, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, has pardoned 126 Afghan inmates, says a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, today, May 16.

According to the statement, the release order of the Afghan prisoners, who would serve various sentences in Turkmenistan, has been issued for humanitarian and goodwill on the occasion of Eid al-Fetr.

The released prisoners will be handed over to Afghan officials in charge of border affairs on coming Monday, May 18, in Aqina and Torghundi ports, connecting the two neighboring countries in northern border of Afghanistan.

The Afghan foreign ministry has appreciated Turkmenistan’s goodwill, particularly pardoning the Afghan prisoners, and the country’s cooperation with Afghanistan.
