Taliban behead a young man in Maidan Wardak

The Taliban militants have beheaded a young man in Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak province, local sources told Kabul Now, today, Saturday, May 23.

A reliable source confirmed that the Taliban militants put a cut off head of a young man on a stone in Kabul-Bamyan highway.

According to the source, the man was abducted on Friday, May 22, and his head was put beside Kabul-Bamyan road on Saturday morning, May 23.

The victim was allegedly a member of Afghan security forces.

Eyewitnesses said that the Taliban had displayed a bleeding cut off head of a young man beside the road this morning.

The Taliban had set up several checkpoints across the highway, an eyewitness, who traveled from the very highway today, told Kabul Now.

MP Mahdi Rasikh, who represents Maidan Wardak province in the parliament, also confirmed that the Taliban have beheaded a young man in the province. He, however, added that the victim was not identified yet.

Situated 35 Km to the west of Kabul, Maidan Wardak is a volatile province where the Taliban have active presence in some of its districts, particularly in Jalriz. Jalriz district which is informally called as Darra-ye Maidan has become known as “Death Valley” for many brutal killings and beheadings of passengers in recent years.
