Afghan authorities close education centers as coronavirus outbreaks

In a move to prevent outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the Afghan health and education authorities announced today, Saturday, March 14, that education centers will remain close until April 18.

Schools are usually opened on March 20 every year after a three-month-long winter break.

The precautionary move is put into effect after President Ghani approved a joint request made by ministries of health, education, higher education, information and culture.

The move comes hours after the Ministry of Public Health officially confirmed four new cases of coronavirus. The total number of coronavirus tested positive reached 11.
