In a statement issued today, October 31, first vice president, Abdul Rashid Dostum said that he is ready to fight against the Taliban with full capability and prevent any activity of the militant group.
According to the statement, while being accompanied by senior military generals, including Abdul Sami Bakhshi, a top official of the 209 Military Corps, Dostum’s convoy was ambushed yesterday, October 30, by the Taliban on their way to Aqcha district of the northern Jowzjan province.
It further noted that the Afghan defense and security forces have successfully repelled the Taliban attack.
Dostum’s convoy have been ambushed repeatedly by the Taliban since 2001 when the group’s regime was overthrown.
The Taliban militants had also ambushed his convoy on March 30, 2019, killing at least one of his bodyguards.
