UK urges Afghan electoral commissions to act impartially

The UK urges the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) to fulfill their responsibilities impartially, efficiently and transparently, the UK embassy in Afghanistan said in a tweet posted today, September 29.

“All candidates and their supporters should refrain from premature claims of victory or unsubstantiated allegations of fraud,” the embassy noted on a following tweet.

Initial reports suggest that the turnout in the fourth presidential polls was very low while around nine millions Afghans had previously registered to vote in the polls.
