MCIT’s senior officials introduced to AGO over allegations of corruption

Speaking at a press conference in Kabul, Shershah Nawabi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), said that several senior officials of the ministry have been introduced to the Attorney’s General Office (AGO) over charges of corruption.

According to Nawabi, the officials were accused of document forgery in Procurement and Installation of Hardware for National Internet Exchange of Afghanistan (NIXA) 2 project worth about AFN 15 million.

He, however, avoided to disclose the identity the officials, arguing that he was not allowed to disclose it until the culprits were sentenced by court.

National Internet Exchange of Afghanistan (NIXA) is a project that links internet services in a system.

On the other hand, Nawabi said that the illegal distribution of around 20,000 Sallam SIM cards in the market was impeded. He added that the culprits were introduced to the AGO.
