Kabul to host fifth edition of Herat International Women’s Film Festival

Kabul is set to host the fifth edition of the “International Women’s Film Festival – Herat” for four days between August 26-29 in which 47 films selected among 200 films already submitted for consideration, will be screened during the festival.

The Secretariat of the 5th edition of the International Women’s Film Festival – Herat said that 47 films from Afghanistan, India, Myanmar, Turkey, France, Egypt, Italy, UK, Belgium, Iran, Russia, United States, Lebanon, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Germany, Portugal, and Korea have been selected to be screened during the festival.

According to the statement, jury of the festival, cinematographers, and women’s rights activists from Afghanistan, India, Germany, Spain, and Iran would award the festival’s statuette and prizes to the selected films in different categories.

The IWFF is the first ever women’s film festival in the region which has hosted around 1,300 films from different countries over past four editions.

In addition to famous Afghan filmmakers and cultural figures, the event will be attended by international guests from other countries as well.
