Report finds nearly 250 million afghanis spent for Consultative Peace Loya Jirga

An investigative report, conducted by the Killid Group, published on Monday, has found that nearly 250 million afghanis spent for Consultative Peace Loya Jirga held on April 29, 2019.

Finding by Killid Group suggests that a total amount of 250 million afghanis have been spent for Consultative Peace Loya Jirga. Finding shows that 9 million spent for two meat recipes, 1.5 million for 650 balloons of gas fuel (every balloon contains 40 Kg liquid gas), over 1 million afghanis spent for purchasing over a hundred thousand loaf of bread, 5.5 million afghanis spent for spices, and over 5 million afghanis spent for supplying 60 items of detergent materials.

Transport bill for the event sums up nearly 72 million afghanis, accommodation cost for guests sums up 43 million afghanis, salaries paid to 172 shortly-employed staffs of the assembly sum up nearly 5 million afghanis, and additional costs sum up 67 million afghanis, the report said.

The Consultative Peace Loya Jirga was closed on May 03, with the presence of President Ghani, in which the participants called for an immediate ceasefire to settle the nearly-two decade long conflict in the country.

3315 participants from all provinces of the country assembled in the Afghan capital to discuss peace agenda. The participants shouted for an immediate cease-fire and peace.

Reacting to the demand raised by the Consultative Peace Loya Jirga, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said he was “prepared to implement the fair and legitimate demand” raised by the participants.
