AUAF calls for immediate release of professors abducted by Taliban

On August 07, 2016, the Taliban kidnapped two AUAF teachers. The group have taken them hostage and there is no information about their whereabouts.

The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), issuing a press release, called on the Taliban to immediately release Keving King and Timothy Weeks, the two AUAF professors who were abducted by the Taliban three years ago.

King is an American and Weeks is an Australian. They were abducted by the Taliban back on August 07, 2016 when they were out of AUAF compound in Darul Aman road of capital Kabul.

“Education should never be a target in any conflict. No purpose is served by holding these teachers. We continue our call for the immediate release of our beloved colleagues, teachers and friends, Kevin King and Timothy Weeks,” part of the statement read.

We have ceaselessly asked for the release of these two professors since they were taken hostage. They came to Afghanistan to help educate Afghan students who are striving to build better lives for themselves, their families and their nation, the statement read.
