Armed Robbers Kill Young Man in Herat, Local Sources Say

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources in Herat say a young man has been shot dead by armed motorcycle-riding robbers during an attempted robbery in the city.

According to the sources, the victim, identified as Aziz Ahmadi Nazari, was killed on Saturday (January 10) in the Pule-e-Ansari area of Herat’s District Eight while he was driving a three-wheeled vehicle.

Witnesses say the attackers tried to steal his vehicle, and when Aziz resisted, they opened fire, killing him at the scene before fleeing the area.

Aziz, 35, was the sole breadwinner for his family. He is survived by a nine-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. He worked as a three-wheeler driver in Herat to support his family.

Taliban local authorities in Herat have not yet commented on the incident.

This killing comes amid a series of similar crimes reported in the city in recent months. Despite such incidents, the Taliban continue to claim that they have established nationwide security across Afghanistan.
