24-Year-Old Man Beheaded by In-Laws in Western Afghanistan

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources in Herat report that a 24-year-old man, identified as Safiullah, was beheaded by his father-in-law and brother-in-law.

According to the sources, the incident occurred Thursday night (February 6) in Herat’s 11th district. Safiullah had been visiting his in-laws’ house when he was attacked and beheaded with a knife during the night.

The sources indicate that the murder was linked to “honor-related issues”, as Safiullah was accused of having an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law.

The Taliban have reportedly arrested the father-in-law and brother-in-law on charges of murder.

However, local Taliban officials in Herat have yet to comment on the case.

On the same Thursday evening, another man was also beheaded in the Jebrael area in Herat, though the motive and perpetrators remain unknown.
