Taliban police in northeastern Takhar province have reported that a 21-year-old woman was killed by unknown assailants in Khwaja Ghar district.
Mobeen Safi, Taliban’s security spokesperson in the province, said that the victim identified as Masooma, was attacked by unknown assailants and stabbed with a knife at around 1:00 PM on Friday.
The motive behind this murder remains unknown, the Taliban security spokesperson said an investigation is underway into the murder.
Since the Taliban take over in August 2021, targeted killings have increased across the country, civilians have often been killed under mysterious circumstances. The situation has raised serious concerns over the safety and security of citizens, particularly women, and girls, who have been put under severe restrictions by the Taliban.
