Unknown gunmen attack residence of former government official in Badakhshan, leaving two wounded

Unknown armed individuals attacked the residence of Hamdullah Danshi, the former deputy governor of Kunduz province, leaving two individuals wounded including his son.

Relatives of Danshi told KabulNow that the attack occurred on Saturday night in Argo district of Badakhshan province. They stated that Mashhodullah Danshi, Hamdullah Danshi’s son, was among the injured.

The armed individuals reportedly hurled several hand grenades at Hamdullah Danshi’s residence and fired shots. Danshi was not at home at the time of the incident.

The local Taliban officials in Badakhshan have not commented on the incident yet.

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, targeted killings have increased across the country especially in northern provinces, raising serious concerns over the safety and security of citizens across the country.
