The Taliban Police in the northeastern province of Takhar have reported that unidentified assailants killed a man, identified as Akram, and wounded his wife in Darqad district.
Mubeen Safi, the spokesperson of the Taliban police in Takhar, stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday around 11:45 pm in the district’s Pakhl Qashlaq village.
The reason behind the killing remains unclear.
Local Taliban authorities have confirmed the arrest of four suspects in connection with the case.
Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021, targeted killings have increased across the country, raising serious concerns over the safety and security of citizens across the country.
According to official records, at least 89 mysterious killings have been documented in Takhar province alone over the past nearly two years.
