NRF claims killing 4 Taliban fighters and wounding 5 in Takhar province

The anti-Taliban armed group, the National Resistance Front (NRF) has claimed that their forces have eliminated four Taliban members and wounded five others in a targeted assault in northeastern Takhar province.

“As a result of the attacks by the brave forces of the National Resistance Front on the headquarters of the district building in Baharak Takhar province, four Taliban terrorists were killed and five others, including the Baharak district chief of this group, were injured.” NRF wrote in a statement on Thursday.

“This conflict began last night when the NRF fighters launched several rockets at the building of this district in a pre-planned operation,” the front added.

Another source has also confirmed the news with KabulNow, stating that the injured individuals were transferred to Takhar Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Additionally, the National Resistance Front asserted that at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, their fighters targeted a Taliban truck on the Matak Bridge in Parwan province, resulting in heavy casualties to the group, although specific figures were not provided.

NRF further wrote in the statement: “Also, around 5:45 PM on Saturday, a mine planted by the National Resistance Front fighters near the governor’s office in Takhar province exploded, resulting in 6 Taliban terrorists being severely wounded.”

This front added that their forces were not harmed in the recent attacks and operations.

However, the Taliban security command in Takhar province has rejected the NRF’s claim regarding the attack on the Baharak district building and the alleged casualties suffered by their forces.

Formed after the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, and led by Ahmad Massoud, the son of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the NRF has been engaged in the guerrilla wars against the Taliban in the northern and northeastern provinces of Afghanistan. The group has mostly been active in Panjshir and neighboring provinces.
