Traffic accident in Baghlan province claims four lives, including two children

A traffic accident in the northern Afghan province of Baghlan on Thursday killed four people, including two children, local Taliban officials said.

The accident occurred in the Nasrat Amin area of the province’s capital city, Pul-i-Khumri. A Toyota Fielder, lacking a number plate, veered off the Gurgan road leading to Pul-i-Khumri and overturned in the Gurgan water stream.

Two men and two children were killed in the accident, while the driver was seriously injured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, local officials say that drivers’ negligence, road deterioration, and non-compliance with driving regulations are all contributing factors to traffic accidents in Afghanistan.

This is the third traffic accident in Baghlan province within a week. Over the weekend, two separate incidents claimed the lives of two children.
