The only elementary school in Kunar’s Chapa Dara district torched

Local sources report that unidentified individuals have set fire to the only elementary school in the Chapa Dara district of Konar Province. The incident took place last night in the village of Chambarak within the district.

A resident from Chapa Dara district contacted told the school, which was constructed by the local community using wood and consisted of two tents and four classrooms, was completely consumed by the raging fire last night.

The motive behind the arson and the identity of the perpetrators remains unknown, according to the resident.
While officials from the Konar Provincial Education Directorate have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, the Taliban Provincial Police Commander have announced the launch of investigations into this grave incident.

Chapa Dara district, has long struggled with the lack of basic living facilities and educational resources for its residents. This incident further exacerbates the challenges faced by the community, depriving them of a vital educational institution
