Afghanistan Freedom Front accuses Taliban of denying funeral prayers for its fighters

In a statement on Thursday, the armed anti-Taliban group, Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) accused the Taliban of harassing, detaining, and torturing civilians in Kabul, Parwan, Panjshir, and Kapisa provinces, adding the Taliban is not allowing people to perform the funeral prayer for their fallen members. The group called the Taliban’s action inhumane and against the teachings of Islam.

Moreover, the anti-Taliban group expressed readiness to cooperate with other groups opposing the Taliban, including the Ahmad Masoud-led National Resistance Front (NRF).  It is worth mentioning that Massoud had earlier called for coordination and unity among all the armed groups fighting the Taliban adding that the Taliban could only be defeated with the combined strength of all the groups opposing it.

In the latest clash in central Parwan province, the Taliban’s Defense Ministry claimed on Thursday to have killed eight members of the Afghanistan Freedom Front including its senior commander Akmal Ameer. AFF did not confirm the death of Commander Ameer, saying his fate remained unknown.

The Taliban has reportedly established several checkpoints along the Kabul-Parwan highway, harassing people and detaining them with the slightest pieces of evidence. Sources, on the condition of anonymity, told KabulNow, that the group has also started house-to-house searches in the central province of Parwan, arresting more than 100 civilians.
