Taliban intelligence agent accused of torturing a civilian in Bamyan

Sources in the central Bamyan province confirmed to KabulNow that an agent of the Taliban intelligence agency has tortured a civilian in the province. A video of the tortured man sent to KabulNow shows that signs of torture and bruises are still visible on his body.

In the video, the man claims while mourning in tears that a person named Fateh tortured him in Shibar district of Bamyan after detaining him.

Local sources identified the victim as Shaikh Barat, adding that he is a logistic employee of a telecommunication company in the central province.

These sources identified the Taliban intelligence agent who tortured him as Sayed Fateh.

The circumstances behind his arrest and torture is still unknown and local Taliban authorities have not commented regarding the incident.

This is not the first time that Taliban members are accused for torturing civilians.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, its members have repeatedly arrested, tortured, and even killed civilians in different part of Afghanistan.
