According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Kabul, migrants returning to Afghanistan are among the most vulnerable groups.
The IOM said it had helped 440 families who’d returned to Afghanistan in February.
“In February 2023, our teams provided cash, medical assistance and essential household items to 440 families in IOM’s transit center in Torkham, Nangarhar,” IOM said on Thursday.
The situation has been exacerbated by the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, leading to an increase in unwanted migration and forcing hundreds of thousands of Afghans to seek refuge in neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, as well as European countries.
Furthermore, Afghan citizens living in Pakistan and Iran without proper documentation are routinely detained and deported.
