Taliban: Former female MP was killed by one her bodyguards

The Taliban spokesperson for Kabul Police, Khalid Zadran, said on Friday that the former female lawmaker Mursal Nabizada was murdered by one of her bodyguards.

Mursal Nabizada and one of her bodyguards were killed, and her brother was wounded at her home in Kabul on 15 January 2023.

The former lawmaker’s murder sparked global reaction, with many accusing the Taliban for being behind it.

Khalid Zadran said that the suspect, Malyaar, had been arrested by the group. “The killer, who was on the run, was caught as a result of a detective operation and he has confessed to his crime. Further investigations are underway to determine the factors and other aspects of the crime,” Zadran said in a tweet
