Taliban detains community leader in Samangan province

Local sources in Samangan province have told KabulNow that the Taliban has detained Abdul Ghafar Moradi, a tribal elder and head of the Zandan Valley residents’ solidarity council, in the capital city of Aibak.

Moradi is a close relative of Mohammad Assef Azimi, a member of the Senate in the previous government, has been in Taliban custody for a week. He has been accused of cooperating with the anti-Taliban armed group National Resistance Front (NRF).

The Taliban also detained a former army soldier and a farmer in Panjshir province on Sunday.
