Kabul blast leaves several dead and wounded

The Islamic State of Khurasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility for the attack

At least 14 people were killed and 18 wounded in an explosion outside a military airport in Kabul earlier this morning. Taliban interior ministry spokesman, Abdul Nafi Takoor, confirmed to Aljazeera that the blast had left several dead and wounded.

According to local residents, a loud explosion was heard at around 8:30am local time on Sunday 1 January 2023 in the vicinity of the heavily fortified military airport. Taliban security forces have sealed off the area and the group’s interior ministry spokesman said an investigation was underway.

The Islamic State of Khurasan Province (ISKP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, adding that its suicide bomber killed and wounded around 50 members of the Taliban.
