Niklasson meets Lord Ahmad

EU Special Envoy discusses Afghanistan with British Minister of State for South Asia

The European Union’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Tomas Niklasson, is on a visit to London, meeting the British government’s Minister of State for Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and United Nations, Lord Tariq Ahmad.

Tomas Niklasson said on a Tweet on Saturday that they had had a “substantial and timely exchange on current challenges in Afghanistan and how the EU and the UK can continue efforts to support the people of Afghanistan without compromising on their legitimate expectations that their rights must be respected and their voices heard.”

Niklasson said he had also spoken to think tanks, Afghan experts and diplomats, in London.
