15 Killed as Roadside Bomb Strikes Bus in Balkh

As many as 15 commuters were killed after a roadside bomb targeted a bus carrying employees of the petroleum department of Hairatan port in Balkh province, a health source confirmed to Kabul Now. The incident took place today in the limits of the 3rd district in Mazar-e-Sharif.

A source told Kabul Now that the blast targeted a bus carrying around 40 employees of Hairatan Port in Sayed Abad square on Tuesday morning, December 06.

Local Taliban authorities, however, confirmed lower casualties.

Mohammad Asif Waziri, a spokesperson for the Taliban police in the northern province, said that eight people were killed and eight others were wounded in the attack.

All the dead and wounded are employees of Hairatan port, he added.

Najibullah Tawana, Taliban’s director of public health in Balkh, also confirmed the same casualties.

However, a source in Abu Ali Sina Regional Hospital, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to Kabul Now that 15 people were killed in the roadside bomb blast. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
