Mastermind of rocket attack on Presidential Palace arrested: MoI

Operatives of the Afghan Elite Police Force have arrested the mastermind of rocket attack on the Presidential Palace, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said today, Sunday, July 25.

Mirwais Stanakzai, a spokesperson for the MoI, said operatives of the Afghan Elite Police Force have arrested the mastermind of rocket attack on the Presidential Palace. He said three others were also detained in connection with the July 20 attack.

On July 20, three rockets landed at areas close to the Presidential Palace while President Ghani, high-level officials, senior politicians, and Afghan dignitaries were offering Eid al-Adha prayer.

According to Kabul police, the attack did not harm anyone.

Hours after the attack, a Taliban spokesperson, who talked to Aljazeera English, claimed responsibility for the attack.
