Airstrike kills two women and three children in Kandahar

An airstrike killed two women and three children in Panjwayi district of the southern Kandahar province, a local health official confirmed. Six civilians, including four women, were wounded in the airstrike.

The official, who spoke under condition of anonymity, said the incident took place on Wednesday, June 30, in Salavat Khairo village of the district.

The wounded civilians have been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Agha Lalai Dastgiri, deputy governor of Kandahar, confirmed the Afghan Air Force has conducted an airstrike in Panjwayi district.

He, however, said it is not clear whether civilians were also harmed or not in the airstrike.

Kandahar is an insecure province, where the Taliban actively operate in swathes of territories in different parts of the province.
