Four members People Uprising Force, a pro-government militia, were killed and three other militiamen wounded after the Taliban militants attacked their outpost in Patoo district of the central Daikundi province, a local security official confirmed.
The incident took place on Wednesday, June 16, in Sar-e-Tagab village of the district and the village has fallen to the Taliban militants, said Naqibullah Malistani, security head of Daikundi police.
Eight Taliban militants were killed and four others wounded in clashes against security forces which lasted until earlier this morning in the area, the local official added.
Meanwhile, Ghairat Ali Jawahiri, a member of Daikundi’s Provincial Council, said that the militiamen stationed in Sar-e-Tagab outpost have retreated for the shortage of food and water in their outposts.
He added that the Taliban have blown up the outpost after the militiamen retreated from it.
The Taliban, however, has not made any comment regarding the incident so far.
Daikundi is a secure province in the central region of Afghanistan but some of its districts which share border with the restive provinces of Helmand and Urozgan, occasionally comes under the Taliban attacks.
