New slaughterhouse set up in Herat

Funded by Asian Development Bank a slaughterhouse was founded in the western Herat province, the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) said today, Wednesday, June 02.

Hashmatullah Ghafoori, a deputy minister at the MAIL, said that the slaughterhouse has a capacity of 100 cows and 500 goats and sheep being slaughtered in every eight hours.

Sits on 25 acres of land, this slaughterhouse cost six million USD.

“This slaughterhouse is the biggest house in the country,” he added.

He stressed that Herat’s slaughterhouse will be used to meet the needs of government forces and the butchers then can use the products of this house.
