19 Taliban militants and al-Qaeda members were killed and five others were wounded as the result of airstrikes conducted by the Afghan forces in Helmand and Badghis provinces, local sources confirmed.
Six members of al-Qaida and eight members of the Taliban militant group were killed as a result of operations launched on Wednesday, June 02, in five different areas of Nawa district, the 215 Maiwand Military Corps said in a statement issued today.
In the western Badghis province, Mullah Abdul Rahman, Taliban’s shadow district governor for Ghormach district, was killed along with his four men in another airstrike carried out by Afghan forces, Hessamuddin Shams, Badghis governor, told Kabul Now.
He added that the airstrike was conducted today, Thursday, June 03, in Jawand district of the province.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents.
The southern province of Helmand and northwest province of Badghis are volatile where the Taliban controls swaths of territories.
