NDS operatives rescued a child who was kidnaped in Takhar

Operatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) rescued a five-year-old child who was kidnapped in the northern Takhar province, the NDS said today, May 31.

A statement posted by NDS said Mohamad Zakaria had been kidnapped five days ago, on May 26, from near his house.

The abductors demanded 500,000 afghanis ransom.

The NDS operatives has arrested a suspect.

On May 16, police forces rescued a three-year-old child who had been kidnapped in Taloqan, provincial capital of Takhar.

Kidnap for ransom is on the rise as the security situation is deteriorating. Few months ago a number of businessmen in Herat withdrew their businesses to be resettled in the neighboring countries.
