The US government handed over 33 pieces of Afghanistan’s ancient objet d’art to the Afghan Embassy in Washington DC, the Afghan Embassy said today, Tuesday, April 21.
Afghanistan’s ambassador to Washington, Roya Rahmani received 33 ancient artifacts belonging to Afghanistan in an official ceremony, a statement issued by Afghanistan Embassy in Washington said.
The antiquities dated back to 02-08 AD reflect the rich heritage of Afghanistan’s ancient civilization. The antiquities will be transferred to Afghanistan and displayed in the National Museum of the country, the statement said.
These antiquities were stolen from Afghanistan by smugglers and sold to antiquity dealers in the US.
