As many as 75 Taliban militants, including five suicide bombers, were killed in airstrikes and military operations conducted on the Taliban’s hideouts in Arghandab and Panjwai districts of Kandahar province, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
12 Taliban militants were wounded over the past 24 hours in the province, the MoD said in a statement issued today, Sunday, April 04. It further noted that a total 32 landmines planted by the Taliban were defused in Arghandab and Zhari district.
The Afghan Air Force conducted airstrikes around 01:52 AM, earlier today, Sunday, April 04, in the district, said Fawad Aman, the deputy spokesperson for the MoD. Aman said a large number of suicide vests, explosives, weapons, and munitions of the militant group were also destroyed as a result of the airstrikes.
The Taliban has not commented in this regard yet.
Located in the southern part of the country, Kandahar has seen a surge in violence. The province is the Taliban’s stronghold.
18 Taliban militants were killed and a car bomb of the militant group was defused in Arghandab district on Saturday, April 03, according to Afghan ministry of defense.
The MoD says Afghan security forces have defused a Taliban truck bomb in Shahwalikot district.
