MAIL: Afghanistan produced 261,048 tons of poultry meat last year

Afghanistan has produced 261,048 metric tons of poultry meat in the last 1399 (solar year), the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL) said in a statement issued today, April 12.

The Ministry named Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Takhar, Kandahar, Balkh, Helmand, and Farah as the major poultry production provinces in the country.

Producing 47,110 metric tons of poultry meat and having 2,073 poultry farms, Kabul ranks as the top producer in the country followed by Paktia, Logar, and Herat provinces.

For the time being, as many as 9,247 farms are actively functional across the country which include 3,520 layer poultry farms, 5,723 broiler farms, and 4 chicken production farms.

The MAIL noted in its statement that Afghanistan has got closer to become self-reliant in poultry production.

Afghanistan is a land-locked country where most of its population are dependent on agriculture products to support their living.
