Afghanistan’s honey production grows

Afghanistan has produced nearly 2,500 tons of honey in the previous solar year, says the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, in a statement issued today, Thursday, April 08.

Honey production grew by 390 tons in the 1398 (solar year) as compared to previous years, the statement said.

Producing 899 tons of honey, the eastern Paktia ranks the top in honey production. Nangarhar and Khost stand on the second and third ranks in the country.

Land-locked Afghanistan has been struggling to develop its agriculture sector and stand on its own. The country is one of the largest import markets in the region despite the fact that it is an agricultural country.

Bamyan, Badakhshan, Daikundi, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Herat, Takhar, Kapisa, Badghis, and Sar-e-Pul provinces also produce honey.

Afghanistan produces high-quality honey that has a huge demand in the domestic market. The beekeeping industry is on the rise in the secure regions of the country.
