47 Taliban including two Pakistani nationals killed in Kandahar

As many as 47 Taliban militants including two Pakistani nationals were killed and nine others wounded in airstrike and ground campaigns conducted by the Afghan security forces in Kandahar, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

A statement issued by the MoD today, Thursday, April 29, said that the operation was conducted on Wednesday in Maiwand, Khakriz, and Zhari districts of Kandahar.

Qari Besmellah and Haji Rohani, the two Pakistani nationals, were among those killed, according to the statement. They used to extort money from drivers on Maiwand Kandahar-Lashkargah highway.

The Taliban have not made any comment in this regard so far.

Located in the south of the country, Kandahar is an insecure province where the insurgent group controls swathes of territories including Maiwand, Khakriz, and Zhari.
