Roadside bombs kill nine civilians in Maidan Wardak province

Nine civilians were killed and four others wounded after their riding vehicles hit two roadside bombs in Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak province, according to MP Mahdi Rasekh.

An MP, who represents Maidan Wardak in the Parliament, told Kabul Now that the incident took place earlier this morning, Tuesday, October 20, in Abe Busragh area of Jalrez district. He added that the victims are all residents of Waras district of Bamyan province who were heading to Kabul.

He claimed that the roadside bombs were planted by the Taliban.

Muhibullah Sherzai, spokesperson for Maidan Wardak governor, also confirmed the incident, adding that eight wounded people, including five women, were transferred to state run hospitals in Maidan Shahr, capital city of the province.

The Taliban, however, have not commented regarding the incident.

Maidan Wardak is located to the south-west of Kabul. The Taliban militants are actively operating in some parts of the province.
