As many as 16 Taliban’s red unit fighters, including five Pakistani nationals, were killed and six others wounded in counter attacks by Afghan security forces in Sherzad district of the eastern Nangarhar province, local authorities confirmed.
According to a statement issued today, Wednesday, September 02, by media office of Nangarhar governor the incident took place in Do Bandi and Sharla Khel areas of Sherzad district,
The statement added that two vehicles of the militants were also destroyed in the battle.
One security force was confirmed as dead and three others as wounded in clashes with the Taliban militants.
Situated in eastern Afghanistan, Nangarhar is an insecure province where the Taliban have expanded their militancy in several districts of the province in recent years.
On the other hand, Hejratullah Akbari, spokesperson for Kunduz police chief, confirmed to Kabul Now that the Taliban have killed a female police officer in Kunduz city. He added that the incident took place last night, September 01, in PD1 of Kunduz city, capital of the northern province.
The Taliban have not commented regarding either of the two incidents.
